Banca d’Italia, Collegio Carlo Alberto and Norges Bank will host a joint conference on the role of financial intermediation, financing decisions, and the transmission and impact of monetary policy and shocks throughout the economy. The meeting will bring together economists from academia and central banks focused on using microdata in empirical work and model estimation to understand how banking activities, capital markets, and balance-sheet choices by firms and households affect monetary policy decisions and consequences, and how they shape the way in which unexpected shocks or new trends affect the dynamics of the economy. Special attention will be paid to papers with relevance to current policy questions. Luc Laeven (European Central Bank), Jose-Luis Peydro (Imperial College London) and Neeltje van Horen (Bank of England) are confirmed keynote speakers for the event. All presentations will take place in-person at Collegio Carlo Alberto, Piazza Arbarello 8, Turin.
